Ship Channel

Go a couple miles due east from my backyard and this is what you see:

 Backyard

You do -not- want to be in the middle of the ship channel when these two bad boys come rolling by at 20 knots. This picture makes the ships look small, but those things are as big as an average sized apartment complex. And weigh even more.

Seems like this year, ship channel traffic is way, way up. Not sure whether I’m impressed or depressed about it. Americans sure do love their imported George Foreman Grills and Ginsu Knife sets.

Sam is enjoying his third year of youth football. Rumor is he will get playing time at outside linebacker this weekend, in addition to his normal responsibilities at tight end.

This shot is from a recent scrimmage. The coach in the foreground used to play for the New Orleans Saints.  I’m pretty sure that is Sam about to catch the ball. Or he might be the guy with the red undershirt, sealing the corner. Or one of the other guys. You can’t really tell them apart at this age.

Quote Of the Day

I saw this and just had to giggle:

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?
