Compression Fittings

Filed under: Sailing — DavidB @ 5:27 am

Just ordered some HI-Mod compression fittings from Hayn Marine. My intention is to do the install myself. Hayes Rigging is swaging the the tops of all the standing rigging. And I’m gonna see if I can install these little beasties on the bottom.

Wish me luck.

  1. Gahhhh! Not sure whether to quote the Sex Pistols or the Beastie Boys back to you on this one. (Because of course, that’s really the only way I can figure out how to appreciate any of your more nautical postings.) I believe “She’s Crafty” is the most nautical offering I can find from the B-Boys, but I am happy to offer that in honor of your beautiful bride:

    She’s crafty - she’s gets around
    She’s crafty - she’s always down
    She’s crafty - she’s got a gripe
She’s crafty - and she’s just my type
    She’s crafty

    ;-)

For you, O Captain My Captain, of the sci-fi books and sno-cones, and for the very lovely Good Ship Firefly, I offer the following:

  2. P.S. And do have fun playing with your new widget or whatever the hell that thing is.

P.P.S. I am refraining from all comments regarding installing beasties on the bottom of anything. Because you just opened that door way too wide and are clearly just begging for someone to walk in. I’ll leave it to your Boat People to elaborate on the undoubtedly manifold nuances of that particular metaphor.

  3. Don’t disrespect the picture Pollyanna. That picture is pure sailing porn.

    Pure.

And as for Beastie Boys lyrics; I’m not a huge fan, but the song “Girls” has some choice lyrics.

  4. Okay, I clearly have NO concept of nautical erotica, because that is doing NOTHING for me. NOTHING. But I’ve got to concede you totally got me on the lyrics.

In honor of your victory in this round: Liz Phair, “Big Tall Man.”

    But I’ll be back.

  5. I have no idea what that widget is, but it is beautifully designed and machined, if it’s as nice as its picture. The only metalwork I’ve done is jewelry, but I do like shiny pretty things of many varieties…

  6. And I think you should link to me, beyotch. Think of the shock to your maritime buddies.

  7. Linkage accomplished young missy. And I surely anticipate you returning the favor.

Fyi though, for shock value, you’re gonna have to try a little harder!

  8. Dude, she’s just trying to lure in some pretty sailor boys with earrings. I can’t believe you took that bait. Don’t blame me if all your pals end up in watery graves.

  9. Sometimes you know it’s bait, and you just take it anyway!

  10. You always were a total sucker for mermaids, Speed Merchant. Enjoy your snack, and don’t say I didn’t warn you.

And Euphrosyne, keep your scaly fins off Edward. I totally dibbed that Brain Hottie. Not that that ever stopped her in 9th grade, but I hear she’s tried to grow a few ethical scruples since then.
